Great product. I bought this for my dad's birthday to improve the signal on his tube receiver. The Terk FM Pro was easy to install and improved all of the signal on the receiver. We installed this in the attic, dropped the cable down the wall and hooked the amplifier into the receiver and it just worked.
I have a Sony HD Radio tuner and all HD stations are being received with no problem. Reception of all local Philadelphia stations is amazing, full signal level on all, even the weaker ones. Just installed the Terk FM-50 in an outdoor location - on wall about 10 feet above ground. I highly recommend this antenna. I did not aim the antenna at all, just picked a convenient location outside. Was worried that it was not mounted high enough but this was not even close to being a problem. Great performance without any hassle. Easy to mount.
bose radios do not come with an antenna, sure, you can try the wire type or maybe if you are close to the fm stations you will get good FM reception, i had my radio for 4 years and only got a few stations real clear, i bought this terk antenna for use up at my camp in cedar river Mi where i couldnt get any FM, even with my tv antenna, NOW, i get tons of stations. and with the amplifier turned on it gets better, very very happy with this terk antenna. just layed it on the floor upstairs and ran a coax to the radio, tomorrow i will see what happens if i put it outside, this is the best product ive bought in years.
Location. The unit comes with no coax cable, so off to the home store to purchase supplies. Be aware that FM reception is subject to your distance from the source, any interference from buildings and other obstacles will affect performance. After reading the reviews I thought this antenna would be a winner. I bought this with great optimism to improve my home receivers FM reception. This would be vastly cheaper than this product. I was left with an outside install. The instructions state metal siding, interior walls and other house electromagnetic interference will impact results.I placed the antenna inside the house near a window, NG.
If you are facing an outside install, you would be better off with an omni-directional FM antenna on a mast. Location. The original FM wire provided was no good, a basic FM dipole was no better. I determined which side of the house got the best reception, after climbing up and down my ladder and finally securing to house (vinyl siding) my results were only slightly better than inside.I would not recommend this product at all. Location. This antenna is directional, so placement is very important to good performance. You could also purchase a simple FM amplifier any electronic store to increase FM gain with this set-up.
Depending on the area you live and distance from towers I would say to take that into consideration, and if possible go to an outdoor if possible which will give the best reception. I do live a good distance away from NYC in NJ approx.
The amplifier does absoulutely nothing. As is the case with most amplified antennas.
I have found this antenna of very little help at all with HD radio signals on my Sangean HDT-1X. I have this up high in attic and I get pretty good reception I do not get the vast majority of NYC HD stations.
The noise created by the amp somtimes causes interference. I am an experienced tech who does install low voltage system for a living and have done so since 1980.
60 miles. The key as with any antenna is height, and good quality cable use RG6 or better.
